Therapy Lights

Therapy lights are now available to use at no cost at our site in Markdale and our Erskine site in Dundalk. Please check the program calendar for details on days and times that you can drop-in. If you need to schedule a different time, please call 519-986-2222 ext. 6376 or discuss this with one of our health care providers that you already see regularly.

Light therapy can help several different conditions, including Seasonal Affective Disorder, by exposing your body to artificial light, that mimics outdoor light.

Before you use the light, check to see if this is right for you. You should get advice from your doctor before using this light, especially if you have:

  • bipolar disorder or experience mania
  • eye conditions
  • skin conditions
  • take medications that increase your sensitivity to sunlight

Beside each light, there is a folder with more information about how to set up the light to get the desired effect.

Usually people will use the light for 20-30 minutes, each morning.

Take time to learn more about light therapy, including its benefits, risks, and proper use.
